We once had a patient from Northborough who would change his batteries every time he wore them. This isn’t necessary and here are some quick dos and don’ts to make sure those batteries keep working.

Dos:

  1. Check Regularly: Keep an eye on your battery’s power. A weak battery can mean faded sound, so check or replace regularly.
  2. Carry Spares: Don’t be caught off guard. Keep spare batteries in your bag, pocket, or car just in case.
  3. Wipe down: Sometimes there is some residue from the sticker on the battery. Wipe it off with your finger to get the best contact.
  4. Peel Sticker beforehand: Peeling the sticker off 2-5 minutes before use will give you the most battery life.
  5. Store Cool and Dry: Batteries like it cool. Store them in a dry place away from heat and humidity. A cool battery is a happy battery.

Don’ts:

  1. Mix Old with New: Batteries are like a team; they work best when they’re all on the same page. Avoid mixing old and new batteries.
  2. Remove Sticker Too Soon: Hold off peeling that sticker until you’re ready to use the battery. Once the sticker is off, the battery starts to drain!
  3. Recharge Non-Rechargeables: Hearing aid batteries are not rechargeable. Attempting to charge them can lead to trouble, so stick to the non-rechargeable ones.
  4. Dispose Properly: When it’s time to bid farewell, recycle your batteries properly. Don’t just toss them in the regular trash.
  5. Store Cool and Dry: Batteries like it cool. Store them in a dry place away from heat and humidity. A cool battery is a happy battery.

By following these simple dos and don’ts, you’ll ensure your hearing aid batteries keep the volume up and the good vibes flowing. Need more battery wisdom or personalized advice? Drop by our practice – we’ve got your back!
